Why Our “Old Habits” Turned Out to Be Best Practice
Coming from a background in the arts, where funding is often limited and resources must be used, reused, and stretched as far as possible, sustainability has never been a buzzword for acquismedia, it’s been a necessity.
For over 21 years, our practice has been rooted in making the most of what we have. Long before sustainability became a business imperative, we were already working this way by design. Today, as awareness grows and efficient use of energy and materials becomes non-negotiable at every level, we find ourselves operating a business built on what is now recognised as best practice.
Our approach to procurement is a clear example of this. Whether it’s hire and installation equipment or creative tools, our first port of call is always the used market. When we do buy new, longevity, repairability, and reuse are key factors in our decision. Materials and facilities are chosen with their full lifecycle in mind, not just their immediate use.
Energy use is often the most visible sustainability challenge, and it’s one we’ve actively addressed. Over the past six years, approximately 95% of our services have been delivered using electric vehicles. Our camera, presentation, and battery-powered equipment, along with those vehicles, are primarily charged overnight using clean energy from our supplier, reducing both emissions and peak-time demand.
For us, sustainability isn’t a new direction or a marketing line. It’s simply the continuation of how we’ve always believed creative businesses should operate: responsibly, efficiently, and with an eye on the future.
